Q: What is Human Resources and what do you do?
A: Human resources is a loaded term that relates to issues of labor and economy. Traditionally speaking, human resources refers to the personnel of a business as well as the management thereof, including recruitment, hiring, payroll, and performance evaluation. The name Human Resources emphasizes the organisations engagement with problems of political economy, social space, and community infrastructure. Human Resources is interested in urban places and communities and seeks implement projects concerned with these issues in a variety of settings.
Q: How is this art?
A: Human Resources regards interdisciplinary art practice as well as expanded definitions of art as givens. In other words, it is a willingness to use all media and approaches in art-making, depending on the project. Human Resources assumes that art can take a lot of forms and occur in many contexts outside of official art venues. Human Resources works from an interdisciplinary platform as a matter of course. This is the jumping off point.
Q: What is City of Ideas?
A: City of Ideas was a Human Resources endeavor, funded by the Arts Council, the exhibition took place in 2007 at Barons Self Storage on the Tuam Road in Galway in 2007. Barons is a sleek, state of the art 100,000 sq foot warehouse. The exhibition was held during working hours and the art was located in the storage cells, the car park and the larger open spaces inside the facility.
